Microsoft Excel 2003 Visual Tweaks - Hide Excel 2003's Startup Task Pane

When you start Excel 2003 without automatically opening another document, a "Getting Started" pane appears to the right of your current document. This provides shortcuts to connecting to "Microsoft Office Online", getting the latest news about Excel, as well as shortcuts to your last viewed spreadsheets. While many people like this feature, others may find this pane annoying. To disable it:

1. Click "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "View" tab.
3. Uncheck "Startup Task Pane" next to "Show".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Microsoft Excel 2003 Visual Tweaks - Hide Excel 2003's Startup Task Pane.
